Rangers were a 'tough watch' during their 1-0 win over Motherwell yesterday, according to Alex Rae.
The former Ibrox midfielder insists there is much room for improvement in Michael Beale's side as they approach their League Cup quarter-final tie with Livingston this midweek.
A solitary Cyriel Dessers goal was enough to get past Stuart Kettlewell's men on Sunday afternoon.
But there was no getting away from the fact that it was a lacklustre afternoon for the Light Blues, which Beale himself admitted.
There were some audible boos inside Ibrox from sections of the home support after the hosts limped over the line.
And Rae sympathised with the paying public who watched their team get the win, but not in the most entertaining manner.
He said on Rangers TV: "It was well constructed (the goal) and you talk about playing through the lines. Lovely ball by Scott Wright first time and Matondo pulls the trigger. This was the deciding factor in the game and it was needed as that was a tough watch.
"I think Michael Beale post-match will be saying there were far too many opportunities passed up for his liking. The one thing you can say is there were guys putting their bodies on the line. It was difficult and hard fought but I think you are looking for more here at Ibrox if you are a Rangers fan."
Fellow pundit Shelley Kerr added: "Credit to Motherwell. They tried absolutely everything, put an extra striker in the last 15 minutes and might consider themselves unlucky not to get something out the game.
"It was a tough, tough game and as much as Michael will be looking for more, he'll be happy with the clean sheet and three points."
Meanwhile, James Bisgrove has teased that expansion works at Ibrox are in the pipeline in the "near future".
Rangers' CEO revealed in yesterday's programme notes that the club plans to develop the stadium, as well as its training facilities under his watch.
Previewing the game against Motherwell, which finished 1-0 to Michael Beale's side on Sunday, around half of Bisgrove's section was occupied by the topic of the club's training ground.
But it was his sign-off that will have certainly attracted the most attention among supporters.
