Prolific North was set up in January 2013 and has ten employees.
We Are Prolific Ltd's directors are Alexandra Balazs and Nick Jaspan. They were both directors of Prolific North Limited alongside Mark Dickinson.
A company statement said: "Prolific North has been a profitable business throughout its first decade in operation, but the effects of the pandemic on live events and in particular the necessary decision to cancel our flagship Digital City Expo last November in the wake of last autumn's economic turbulence, left us in a position where our future was under serious threat.
"In an effort to address these challenges, we sought external professional advice and the advice we received was that in order to ensure the profitable core business of Prolific North could carry on, we should enter voluntary liquidation to enable the business to continue to trade without the consequences of cancelling the Expo.
"This decision, though extremely difficult, was part of a recommended professional review.
"Prolific North has been bought by We Are Prolific Ltd. There is no disruption to our editorial content or operations.
"The team, including our leadership team, remains unchanged and there have been no job losses.
"We look forward to delivering our planned programme of events and other initiatives during 2023."
