Public told to look out for missing young man as photo shows last movements

The public is being asked to keep an eye out for a missing person from Galway as gardai issue an urgent appeal.

An Garda Siochana are working to trace the whereabouts of a 25-year-old man that has been missing from his home for days.

Shane Walsh, 25, is described as about 6ft tall, of fit build, with brown shaved hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen on CCTV in the Portumna area on March 29, where he was spotted by a camera wearing dark denim jeans, a black hoodie and a navy gilet.

His family and friends have been posting messages online expressing their concern for his welfare.

In a post shared almost 200 times online, Shane's cousin Melissa said the family is "extremely worried about his wellbeing."

In the appeal, Melissa explained that Shane has been travelling in a black Ford Fiesta registered 11G8916.

The post also reads Shane is "most likely in the greater Galway area, as resided there for the last 14 yrs. He could be anywhere in Ireland as he has access to his car. His sister and dad live in the Enfield/Kilcock Leinster area."

An Garda Siochana has asked anyone with information on Shane’s whereabouts to contact Loughrea Garda Station.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Loughrea are seeking the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 25-year-old Shane Walsh who was last seen in Portumna, County Galway on Wednesday 29th March, 2023.

"Shane is described as approximately 6ft tall, with brown shaved hair and blue eyes. When last seen he was wearing dark denim jeans, a black hoody and a navy gilet. Shane is believed to be travelling in an 11-G registered black Ford Focus.

"Gardaí and Shane’s family concerned for his well-being and are anxious to locate him. Anyone with information on Shane’s whereabouts is asked to contact Loughrea Garda Station 091-842870, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
