Latest figures from Public Health England show there has now been 1,141 positive coronavirus tests across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

The data, released on April 17, shows that there have been 789 confirmed cases across the wider county - a rise of 34 from the previous day's figure of 755.

In the city, there are now 352 positive tests for Covid-19, an increase of 13 from yesterday.

It comes as both hospital trusts across our area confirmed more deaths at its sites.

Nottingham University Hospitals confirmed that four more people have died at its two hospitals after testing positive for the virus.

The patients, all aged between 65 and 71, died on April 15, taking the trust's total to 126.

Dr Keith Girling, medical director at Nottingham University Hospitals said: “Sadly we can confirm that a further four patients have died having tested positive for Covid-19.

"Regrettably that means that 126 Covid-19 positive patients we were caring for have sadly died since the beginning of March.

“The patients were aged between 65 and 71, and died on April 15.

"The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

NHS England data also confirmed three more patients have died at Sherwood Forest Hospitals' three sites.

The trust has now registered 69 deaths at its King's Mill, Mansfield Community and Newark Hospital sites.

Richard Mitchell, Chief Executive at the trust, said: "Sherwood Forest Hospitals is currently treating patients who have tested positive for Covid-19.

"Sadly, we can confirm that 69 patients being cared for at our hospitals, and had tested positive for Covid-19, have died.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time."

A further seven people have died across Nottinghamshire Healthcare's sites, taking the county's total death toll to 202.

It comes as Public Health England revealed a further 847 people have died nationally following positive tests of the virus. The country's hospital death toll stands at 14,576.
