There aren’t too many constants in our towns and villages these days – but one thing sure to stand the test of time is a good local.
Whether you’re a drinker or not, the heart of communities across Ayrshire is quite often the pub.
And amidst the ongoing pandemic, our locals are a welcome place to be able to visit and seek solace from what’s going on outside.
A place to socialise and wind down, a good pub can be the place you turn to in times of celebration and consolation in equal measure.
And throughout the Covid crisis, local pubs have been right at the heart of community; hosting food bank donations, offering food parcels for those struggling or isolating and being there for those in need of a supportive shoulder and pint.
A good pub is somewhere that brings people together, that can spearhead movements and help drive change.
Good decisions aplenty have started over a pint and a chat in the pub, although there have undoubtedly been just as many bad calls made there too!
But here at Ayrshire Live, we think the positives of a good local far outweigh the negatives.
So we will soon be launching our Pub of The Year campaign to find the best boozer in Ayrshire! And we need your help.
We will be asking you to nominate your favourite local and tell us why you love it so much. Once we have our nominations we will go about secretly scoring the pubs put forward into a top 10.
It will then come back to you, our readers, to vote for the pub you think should be crowned Ayrshire Live Pub of The Year 2022/23.
So, keep an eye out over the next few weeks for the official launch of our Pub of The Year competition.
Whether an avid regular, an occasional customer or a proud landlord/landlady – this one’s for you!
