Pub goers in Southwell may have seen nearby street attack which left man with fracture

A man was left with a fractured eye socket after he was assaulted on a street near a pub in Nottinghamshire.

The attack was reported to have happened in Easthorpe, Southwell, at about 11pm on Monday (April 12).

Police, who were called after the victim was taken to hospital, believe there may have been people in the nearby Hearty Goodfellow pub who saw what happened.

Officers have appealed for information and witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Lauren Carpenter, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a serious assault that left a man needing hospital treatment.

“We believe that there may have been people in the pub that evening who might have witnessed something suspicious at the time.

“Incidents such as this can have a lasting impact beyond physical damage and we are working incredibly hard to establish the circumstances.

“The victim is potentially going to need surgery to treat his injuries, however, his injuries are not life-threatening."

Anyone with information is asked to call the force on 101, quoting incident 956 of April 12.
