The team behind the Gaerwen Arms has said a "devastating" fire which ripped through the popular pub has caused "catastrophic" damage to the building. A major blaze broke out at the Anglesey pub on Tuesday afternoon with the fire quickly engulfing a large part of the site.
NorthWalesLive reported that at its height four fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, and a command unit tackled the blaze. Flames and smoke were seen billowing out as residents were told to close their doors and windows.
Chapel Street in the village was closed while firefighters extinguished the blaze in a six-hour battle. The cause of the fire, which damaged an outbuilding, the kitchen, restaurant and bar, has now been given as accidental, involving a tumble dryer in the outbuilding.

A statement was issued via the Gaerwen Arms' Facebook page on Wednesday which said: "Where do we even begin? Yesterday afternoon the most devastating fire ripped through the Gaerwen Arms at speeds that couldn't be controlled, causing catastrophic damage to our kitchen and restaurant.
"We stood by and watched as the incredible North Wales Fire and Rescue Service team fought to save our livelihood and we can never thank them enough for what they did and continue to do every day – risking their own lives for the sake of others. We are beyond thankful that the Gaerwen was closed yesterday – there were no staff inside and nobody was hurt.
"It doesn't bear thinking about how differently things could have been. We've got a long road ahead but you all know how much we love a challenge.
"The amount of support Andy, Oli, and everyone at the GA have already received has been overwhelming – we can never thank you enough. It's incredible how communities come together in times like this.

A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We were called to a building fire on Chapel Street at 3.35pm on Tuesday, June 6. At the height of the incident appliances from Caernarfon, Bangor, Holyhead, Llandudno, the aerial ladder platform from Bangor, and the incident command unit from Rhyl were in attendance.
"The stop message was received just before 10pm. The fire caused substantial damage to a commercial property including an outbuilding, kitchen, restaurant, and public bar. The cause of the fire was accidental involving a tumble dryer housed in the outbuilding."
