Pub chain giving away free pints as part of St Patrick's Day celebrations

A pub chain is giving away a host of prizes to celebrate St Patrick's Day, including a trip for two to Irish capital Dublin. There's also the chance to grab a free pint of Guinness for anyone named Patrick or Patricia to mark the event.

From Monday, green phone boxes will be installed on the at O’Neill’s pubs throughout the country. Customers must wait for the green phone to ring, with the first person to answer the call winning a mystery prize.

As well as a trip for two to Dublin, guests will also be in with a chance of winning other prizes including a signed Six Nations shirt and match ball, pints of Guinness and merchandise from drinks brands Jamesons, Diageo, Tullamore Dew and Sourz.

The Irish-themed pub chain will be offering free pints to people called Patrick and Patricia over the St. Patrick’s Day period. Those who share a name with the patron saint of Ireland are invited to visit their local O’Neill’s pub from March 14-16 for their complimentary pint.

To claim their free drink, all eligible recipients have to do is show their photo ID to bar staff. To add to the St. Patrick’s Day experience, as part of the week-long celebrations, selected O’Neill’s pubs will also have a Ripples ‘STOUT ie ’ machine installed for a limited time only.

The machines will give guests the opportunity to enjoy a picture-perfect pint of the famous black stuff with their own selfie printed onto the head.

Ian Priest, operations director at O’Neill’s Pubs, said: “St. Patrick’s Day is without a doubt our favourite day of the year, and there is always great craic to be had at our pubs across the UK. In order to make this the best St. Patrick’s Day yet, this year we’re painting the town green by giving away some really exciting prizes.”
