Rangers' Champions League rivals PSV Eindhoven will have eight days to prepare for the second leg of their crunch playoff tie.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy's illustrious side will be in Glasgow on Tuesday before the return encounter takes place in the Netherlands on Wednesday, August 24. It's a straight shoot-out between PSV and Rangers as both eye a £40m ticket to the group stage and now Eindhoven's fixture with Volendam has been moved from August 20 to August 31, as they get an Eredivisie week off.
A similar arrangement for Rangers seems a long shot with Gio Van Bronckhorst 's side hosting Queen of the South in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup on August 30, which is part of a jam-packed schedule ahead of the winter World Cup in Qatar. Rangers are away to Hibs on Saturday, August 20. A PSV club statement for the Dutch side said: "As PSV have booked a spot in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, the match versus FC Volendam, originally scheduled to take place on Saturday 20 August, has been moved to Wednesday 31 August, with an 18.45 kick-off."
Van Nistelrooy is buzzing for the two legs against Rangers and is under no illusions the challenge that awaits his team after the Ibrox side outgunned Union Saint-Gilloise.
He said: "Rangers are a great club and I have experienced the atmosphere at Ibrox myself. They made it to the Europa League Final, of course, so they clearly have a good squad. And it will be a nice Dutch get-together on the touchline!
