PSNI issue warning as child injured after using Boom Bag toy incorrectly

Police have issued a warning after a child was injured after using a toy incorrectly.

Officers in Mid Ulster are investigating a recent incident in which a child was injured after using a Boom Bag toy incorrectly.

The toy is often used as a prank as it creates a "giant bang" when used correctly. Its official description says: "This exploding bag is great fun for everyone, to use, simply press down on the capsule inside to break it, then throw it on the ground and stand back for a loud boom!

"Perfect for pranking friends and family or for events and parties that need to go out in a bang!"

Police Mid Ulster have advised that the product is not suitable for children unless supervised by an adult, and that it should never be used by children under three.

In a post on social media, the PSNI warned: "Magherafelt NPT are investigating a recent incident in which a child was unfortunately injured when a Boom bag was used incorrectly.

"Police are advising the public this product is not suitable for children unless under the supervision of an adult and should never be used by a child under 3."
