PSNI attend incident after 'teen spotted waving knife'

Armed Response officers have attended the scene of an incident in Belfast after receiving a report of 'a young male carrying a knife'.

The incident is said to have occurred in the west of the city this afternoon.

A PSNI spokesman said: "We received a report of a young male carrying a knife and waving it around on the Falls Road at City Cemetery.

"Local NPT, LPT and Armed Response officers attended promptly and a group of young people were stop and searched.

"A 13-year-old male was found to be is possession of this knife. A weapon like this could have caused very serious injury with very little effort.

Greyabbey sudden death being investigated by police  

"He is being dealt with for possession of an offensive weapon.

"Big thanks to the public for providing the information which enabled us to take this weapon off the street. As we keep saying we rely on information for the public to tackle crime."
