PSNI arrest two men 'acting suspiciously' in the Ormeau Road area

Two men have been arrested after 'acting suspiciously' in the Ormeau Road area.

The PSNI received a report about the two men, 'one possibly in possession of a firearm' on Monday night, January 24 at Haywood Avenue.

The males, aged 27 and 33, are currently in police custody.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received a report of two men, one possibly in possession of a firearm, acting suspiciously in the Haywood Avenue area of south Belfast at around 11:20pm on Monday 24th January.

"Officers attended and located two males matching descriptions given and subsequently arrested both men. The men, aged 27 and 33, both remain in custody at this time assisting officers with their enquiries.

"Enquiries are ongoing and officers would ask anyone who was in the Haywood Avenue area on Monday night and who noticed any suspicious activity to contact police at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1897 24/01/22.
