PSNI appeal for information after latest assault on Glider staff in West Belfast

Police are appealing for information after a member of Translink staff was assaulted by three teenagers onboard a Glider on Friday evening.

The incident happened on the Andersonstown Road in West Belfast around 8:15pm.

There were no reports of any serious injuries in this latest attack, but police say that their investigations are continuing and Translink have offered a £1000 reward for information which leads to a conviction.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received a report of an assault on a glider in the Andersonstown Road area of West Belfast on Friday 26th May.

"It was reported that three teenage boys assaulted a member of staff at around 8.15pm.

"There have been no reports of any serious injuries at this time.

"Enquiries are continuing and anyone with any information or footage that could assist with the investigation is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1932 of 26/05/23."

A Translink spokesperson added: "We strongly condemn the incident on Glider staff members on Friday 26th May.

“Public transport is vital for the community and we condemn any attacks on our staff or services.

“All our staff have the right to work without fear of abuse or violence and we will be ensuring our colleagues are offered all appropriate support.

“We are assisting the PSNI investigation, including provision of CCTV from the Glider vehicle, the halt and body cam footage.

“We also offer a reward of up to £1,000 for anyone prepared to give evidence which leads to a conviction."
