PSG to make ultimate Kylian Mbappe sacrifice that will have significant Paul Pogba impact

Kylian Mbappe's decision over PSG's latest contract offer that would make him the highest-paid player in world football could have huge ramifications for Paul Pogba.

The French club have fallen short in their efforts to tie down the 23-year-old to a new deal so far with Real Madrid set to pounce on the free agent in June.

Mbappe has looked destined to join the Spanish club ever since PSG knocked back their £140million bid last summer as the winger has rejected several contract offers from his current employers.

But the Ligue 1 outfit have not given up hope yet as The Independent claims they have made a proposal to Mbappe that would earn him an excess of £500,000-a-week, a figure actually closer to £1m-a-week.

If Mbappe signs on the dotted line, it would make him the highest-paid player in the world - terms that Madrid would not be able to match.

Mbappe's family and representatives met with PSG officials on Wednesday to discuss the offer, 24 hours after the forward scored a dramatic 94th-minute winner against Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie.

Mbappe's concerns over Madrid's "inferiority" compared to PSG were cited in the discussions after a lackluster display from Carlo Ancelotti's men.

Spanish newspaper Sport claims it has given him second thoughts on a move to the Bernabeu as he weighs up his options with a potential switch to Liverpool an 'attractive' proposition.

If Mbappe accepts what's currently on the table, it will have a direct knock-on effect in regards to Paul Pogba's future.

PSG are at the front of the pack to sign the midfielder in the summer as a free agent with his Manchester United contract winding down.

The Paris club were willing to offer Pogba up to £500,000-a-week to secure his signature partly because they wanted a French star to be the focal point of the team.

But if Mbappe stays at the Parc des Princes that wouldn't be necessary.

It seems Pogba has started to look down other avenues as a result with claims he would be willing to entertain a move to another Premier League team.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola once said he had been offered the chance to sign the World Cup winner by his agent Mino Raiola back in 2018.

“Two months ago he offered me (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us,” said Guardiola.

“He was interested in Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us. Pogba is an incredible player. A top, top player.”
