PSG switch gifts Chelsea major Frenkie De Jong transfer boost amid Manchester United race

Chelsea are firmly in the race with Manchester United to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong before the end of this transfer window.

Despite focusing on other areas of Chelsea's squad initially, Todd Boehly has been in discussions over the 25-year-old and could end up securing Manchester United's main target of the summer window.

The Blues might have been given another boost in landing De Jong as it now appears a major European rival are firmly out of the race heading into the final stretch. As reported by Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, PSG are still hoping for as many as three new signings but have not made an approach for De Jong.

De Jong's future remains highly unpredictable given the financial situation at the Camp Nou and the deferred wages De Jong is owed from the La Liga club. Reports have consistently reaffirmed his preference is to stay in Barcelona.

However, the lure of Champions League football could change the player's mind, and out of the two English clubs chasing his signature, he would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge.
