PSG star Neymar praises Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho

Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil star Neymar has inadvertently suggested that Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho should be part of the England squad for the World Cup.

Neymar, who has scored 75 goals and registered 54 assists in 121 appearances for his country, is preparing for the upcoming tournament in Qatar, with Brazil tipped by many to lift the trophy in December.

While discussing opposing players, the PSG forward described Reds winger Sancho as an "incredible" player, despite the 22-year-old not being part of Gareth Southgate's squad for the World Cup.

During an interview with the Telegraph, Neymar was asked about England's chances at the upcoming tournament. The Brazilian suggested that the Three Lions have a chance of lifting the trophy, but didn't seem to be aware that Sancho was not part of the squad.

"I really forgot about England but obviously they have a chance!" Neymar said. "I really like (Harry) Kane and (Jadon) Sancho. They’re two incredible players and I have a special love for them because I like players that have their qualities.”

Sancho has struggled for form since moving to United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for a fee of around £73million. He has scored just eight goals in 52 appearances.

The winger has not played for his country since October 2021, but has played 23 times for the Three Lions. He was first dropped by Southgate for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino last November, and was not part of the squad for the international break in March and June this year.

Meanwhile, Sancho's teammate Marcus Rashford has earned a recall for the first time since the Euro 2020 final and is part of the 26-man group.
