PSG president responds to Manchester United takeover rumours as Declan Rice breaks his silence

Here are your Manchester United evening headlines on Saturday, June 10.

PSG president responds to takeover rumours

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has denied any involvement in Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's quest to complete a takeover of Manchester United.

It was reported by The Athletic on Friday that the PSG chief had 'played a significant role in talks' over the purchase of United by a group led by Sheikh Jassim. The Qatari banker lodged a fifth and improved bid to buy the Reds on Wednesday after having reportedly become frustrated by the Glazers' ongoing hesitation.

Sheikh Jassim, who wants to gain full control of the club, tabled his first bid for United back in February and is one of the main frontrunners, taking up his position alongside British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The latter wants to buy a majority stake, whereas the Qatari wants full control.

The BBC has claimed that Al-Khelaifi was contacted by the Glazers last month as United's owners tried to get Sheikh Jassim to increase his offer, something he has, of course, since done. The latter has insisted throughout the whole process that his offers have been made in a personal capacity.

Rice breaks silence amid United links

Declan Rice has sent an emotional message to West Ham's supporters after it was announced he would likely be leaving the club this summer.

Rice has previously been a player of interest to Manchester United and reports have linked the Irons' midfielder with a switch to Old Trafford in recent weeks. On Thursday, Hammers chairman David Sullivan admitted the 24-year-old had likely played his last game for the club after he lifted the Europa Conference League trophy following a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Sullivan said: "I think it has to be [Rice's last game in a West Ham shirt]. We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going.

"You can't ask for a man who has committed more to us this season. In due course, he has to get on and we have to get a replacement - or several replacements.
