PSG make first move for Paul Pogba with contract offer - on less money than Man Utd deal

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly ‘made an offer’ to Paul Pogba that is on lesser terms than the final deal Manchester United offered.

The World Cup winner will be a f ree agent at the end of the season when his contract at Ralf Rangnick’s side comes to an end. Pogba was heavily linked with a move to Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the summer transfer window, but Lionel Messi ’s arrival appeared to bring down the curtain on a potential move.

United have been locked in contract negotiations with the former Juventus ace throughout the campaign, but negotiations have seemingly fallen flat. However, PSG are believed to be renewing their interest in the 29-year-old central midfielder.

Reports from the Manchester Evening News claim the Parisians have offered terms to Pogba, which would see him swap Old Trafford for the Parc des Princes in a free transfer at the end of the season. Surprisingly, PSG’s terms are understood to have been lower than the final package United offered in an attempt to keep him at the club.

However, Pogba recently he is far from decided where his next club will be at the end of the campaign. "Nothing is decided on my future, there is nothing done," Pogba told Telefoot.

"I can decide tomorrow, as I can decide during the transfer window. I want to come back, finish the season well. "The season is not over yet, but almost because we don't have any more titles to play for.

“I want to win titles, to play for something and this year and the last few years we haven't won a title. It's sad."

Pogba also expressed his frustration at another poor campaign for United this season. The Reds are currently languishing in seventh position, where they trail the Champions League places by three points.

And while he was on international duty with France, Pogba further expressed his disappointment at United’s season. "The truth has to be said -- there have been difficult times, especially when I was at Manchester," Pogba added. "When I haven't played or when the results weren't there, coming here [the French squad] gives me a boost. It's difficult because a lot has happened, from the change in manager to my injury. We're no longer fighting for a title, so it's natural.

“Totally [playing for France is a breath of fresh air]. That's the truth. There were difficult moments at United and I needed this break to regain my energy and confidence. Sometimes when I wasn't playing or the results weren't good, coming here, it gives a boost, a breath of air that also helps me to come back well to my club.”

Dressing room sources at United have reportedly claimed Pogba is ‘effectively gone’ coming up to the final two months of his deal. United’s apparent desperation for a new central defensive midfielder may also be another indication of the fact Pogba’s time at Old Trafford has come to an end.

Pogba began the season in sensational style, contributing seven Premier League assists in his first four matches of the campaign. However, he has only managed to amass one goal and two assists in his last 13 league appearances for the Reds.
