PS Plus to remove 18 major games in November 2024 — including Red Dead Redemption 2

If you’re subscribed to PS Plus, it’s your last chance to play two masterful Rockstar games before they get pulled from the service along with many other titles.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are among 18 games set to be removed from the all-you-can-play catalogue on Tuesday, November 19.

Other notable games on the chopping block include several Kingdom Hearts games, as Sony continues to dump a glut of Square Enix RPGs following the removal of the Star Ocean games in September

Some quirky and downright addictive indies are also being removed, including the co-op gems Overcooked 2 and Moving Out. The former sees up to four players working together to whip up meals and wash dishes in chaotic kitchens filled with moving floors and portals.

Of course, there’s not enough time to play them all before they’re ditched next month. Still, if you put in some work, you might be able to complete Red Dead Redemption 2, a modern masterpiece with an arguably richer storyline than Rockstar’s other blockbuster, GTA 5.

The game uses the exploits of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang to weave a tapestry of an American Wild West in decline during the late 19th century.

For millennials of a certain age, GTA: San Andreas is probably the GTA game they cherish the most. A love letter to nineties West Coast hip-hop culture, the crime saga nods to real-life events including the Bloods and Crips gang rivalry; the crack cocaine epidemic; and the Rampart police corruption scandal.

The era’s music soundtracks the bullet-strewn action, including everything from rap to grunge to new jack swing. It’s all shot through with the satirical humour that Rockstar is known for, targeting everything from rampant American consumerism and the obesity crisis to Hollywood and celebrity culture.
