PS Plus October monthly games: Doki Doki to WWE 2K24

After a largely forgetful September lineup, PS Plus is bringing out the big guns in October.

Like clockwork, subscribers on all three plans will be able to download and play three games in October at no extra cost, including the latest WWE wrestling sim and an acclaimed remake of a sci-fi horror classic.

Don’t forget that you have until the end of September to grab the current slate: Harry Potter and Rocket League mash-up Quidditch Champions, baseball game MLB The Show 24, and puzzle-platformer Little Nightmares II.

Get those DualSense controllers ready; this is what you can expect on PS Plus in October.

What are the PS Plus monthly games for October?

Below, we’ve listed the trio of games that will be available as free downloads to members on the PS Plus Essential tier and above from October 1:

WWE 2K24, Dead Space, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! are your free games for October (Sony)
  • WWE 2K24
  • Dead Space (2023)
  • Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!

Both WWE 2K24 and Doki Doki are playable on the PS4 and PS5, while Dead Space is PS5 only. Seeing as plenty of people still use the last-gen console, it’s good to see they’re still being catered for.

Going purely on reviews, the highlight this month is Dead Space, which has an 89 Metacritic score. That puts it in 26th place on the site’s list of the best PS5 games of all time, and above recent gems such as Alan Wake 2, Animal Well, and It Takes Two.

The original Dead Space was already a stone-cold classic but, as we noted in our review, the remake somehow manages to make it even better. If you missed out on it back in the day, either because you were too young for its jump scares or too terrified to play, now’s the ideal time to give it a go.

Yes, the premise and gameplay are still as unnerving as ever, with mutated beasties lurking in every dark crevice of the space mining rig you’re dared to explore. But, how else are you going to find your missing partner? Stop cowering behind the sofa, grab that trusty saw and start slicing.

For an injection of bravado, you could do a lot worse than WWE 2K24. The latest edition in the oiled-up jamboree is an ode to Wrestlemania, the biggest night in wrestling entertainment. All the meat-heads are here, from reigning superstars like Cody Rhodes to legends André the Giant and Randy Savage to divas including Charlotte Flair. By the end, you’ll know your heels (villains) from your faces (good guys) and your Royal Rumbles from your TLC tags.

After all that violence and gore, the lesser-known Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! may come off as a perfumed blast of Japanese euphoria. But, don’t be fooled by its cutesy anime cover, this is a dating sim shot through with psychological horror. School crushes were always anxiety-inducing, right?
