Jamie Redknapp was gushing with pride as he shared an emotional tribute to his son Charley who has flown the nest to begin a "new chapter" in America.
Charley, 18, has made the move across the Atlantic Ocean after enrolling at the University of Arizona. The 49-year-old former professional footballer accompanied his son to the campus to help him settle in.
Jamie shared a sweet post on Instagram in support of Charley. In one snap, the father-son duo stood with their arms around each other as they smiled for the camera.
Jamie also shared videos of the sporting facilities on offer at the university.
Captioning the post, he said: "So a new chapter begins for you at @uarizona Charley.
"We’re so proud of you and we’ll be with you every run and step of the way . Enjoy and soak in all the incredible facilities at your disposal.
"Can’t wait to be back to see you again soon . We love you mate."
Fans took to the comments to wish the teenager well in his new life in the states.
One person said: "What a opportunity !! Love it, smash it Charley and enjoy every step."
Another wrote: "Good Luck Charley , you will smash it bud."
A third fan commented: "Super exciting well Done Charlie," while someone else added: "Congratulations Charley! Enjoy and stay safe! congratulations Jamie proud dad moment for sure."
The emotional post comes after Jamie's ex-wife Louise Redknapp confessed she has been crying "10 times a day" as her eldest son moved to America.
"I keep crying. I cry like 10 times a day at the moment, like if someone’s nice to me I start crying like, 'Sorry it’s just my son’s going to university," she told Metro.co.uk.
Louise, 47, added: "Everyone who’s had kids go off to university say, it’s normal. I’m super proud of him but, God, I’m gonna miss him."
The singer went on to joke that she wished her son had picked a university closer to home.
Louise shares Charley and 13-year-old Beau with her ex-husband Jamie.
The former Eternals singer also said she would miss her son when he jetted off to university as she wished him happy birthday last month.
Writing on Instagram, she said: "To my big boy @charley_redkanpp I can’t put into words how much I love you and how proud I am of you.
"I can’t believe this time 18 years ago you came into my world. You’re my best friend, my rock and have been right by my side since the day you were born.
"You mean the world to me and I’ll be there jumping on a plane every weekend to Arizona."
