Hundreds of protestors from all over Scotland gathered outside Perth Concert Hall on Tuesday night (August 16).
Conservative supporters were hit with eggs and called "scum" as they arrived at the only Scottish hustings venue for the party's leadership contest.
Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss were both in the Fair City to try and win Conservative members' votes to become the party's next leader and prime minister.
But their arrival was not welcomed by many.
Lorna McKinnon from Glasgow said: "I am really furious that they have the gall to show up in town and expect not to be met with absolute fury.
"The shambolic way they handled the pandemic and now the cost of living. None of them help meet the needs of ordinary working class people. It's shameful they have showed up here."
When protestor Adam was asked what brought him to Perth from Dundee, he responded: "The Tories - sadly.
"Neither one is going to be a good prime minister."
He was brandishing placards which read: "Why yes we are seeking attention. Scotland will not be ignored".
This was in response to Liz Truss' previous comments at a hustings event in Exeter that Nicola Sturgeon was an "attention seeker" best ignored.
Adam said: "Whether they like it or not Nicola Sturgeon is the democratically elected leader of Scotland."
The noisy crowd of several hundred sang, booed and pelted eggs at Scottish Conservative members as they arrived at the sold-out event.
