During the confirmation hearing of Republican Sen. Marco Rubio for the position of secretary of state, several protestors interrupted the proceedings with their grievances.
One protestor, speaking in Spanish, raised concerns about US actions in Nicaragua, Cuba, and Venezuela, prompting Senator Rubio to humorously acknowledge the bilingual protest. Another protestor, this time from Code Pink, protested US sanctions in English.

The interruptions led to a light-hearted moment when Senator Rubio commented on the bilingual protest, and the committee chair, Senator James Risch, noted that such interruptions were uncommon in recent times.
Senator Risch, in his opening remarks, expressed a lower tolerance for protestor disruptions compared to previous committee chairs. As a result, all protestors who interrupted the hearing were escorted out of the room by authorities.
These interruptions highlighted the passionate views held by some individuals regarding US foreign policy and the nomination of Senator Rubio for the role of secretary of state.
