Protestors block Dublin Airport causing major delays

Protestors blocked Dublin Airport earlier this afternoon causing significant delays.

A protest close to the Airport roundabout caused heavy traffic delays on the nearby roads this afternoon. Footage circulating social media showed people with banners standing in the middle of the road, shouting “No passport, no entry!” and “Our streets!” as vehicles queued up.

Gardai were at the scene and ensured some traffic diversions were in place. Dublin Airport management tweeted: “Due to a protest close to the Airport Roundabout, traffic is heavy on the roads around Dublin Airport this afternoon.

“Garda Traffic are at the scene and some traffic diversions are in place. Passengers travelling to the airport this afternoon are advised to allow additional time.”

An hour later, they announced the protestors had moved on and traffic flows were returning to normal in the vicinity of the airport.
