Protesters outside Jacob Rees-Mogg's home moved on by police within minutes

Nine campaigners who gathered outside of Jacob Rees-Mogg's home this evening were moved on by police just minutes later.

Protesters then moved the demonstration to outside the MP for North Somerset's constituency office, in Midsomer Norton.

Dozens of people of all ages attended the protest, with placards reading 'this is how dictatorships begin. Be warned'.

North East Somerset Labour Party was staging the demonstration in Midsomer Norton. However it seems a separate group headed to the MP's home until police arrived.

Mr Rees-Mogg has been one of the leading Brexiteers pushing for a no-deal exit out of the  European Union.

Tonight's planned demonstration followed Boris Johnson's shock announcement to prorogue Parliament for five weeks.

Many have already taken to streets to voice their outrage about the unprecedented closure of the Commons during a protest in Bristol city centre yesterday.

More demonstrations are planned in our city on Saturday and Tuesday.
