Protesters in Tel Aviv have caused disruptions on the Ayalon Highway in a demonstration calling for the release of hostages in Gaza. The protesters blocked several lanes on the highway, prompting a response from the police.
Law enforcement officers resorted to using water cannons with foam to disperse the demonstrators and clear the road. They also physically removed protesters who were sitting in the middle of the highway. Additionally, water cannons were sprayed on protesters who were standing on the side of the road.
During the protest, chants of “Officer, who are you keeping safe?” could be heard from the demonstrators. Some protesters were observed using smoke canisters and waving Israeli flags as they demanded a hostage deal.
In a separate incident in Haifa, police reported the arrest of two protesters who allegedly lit torches during the demonstration.
