Protesters Greet VP JD Vance In Vermont Ski Trip

Vice President JD Vance speaks

Vice President JD Vance faced a mixed reception during his visit to Vermont for a family ski trip following his controversial remarks about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. While Vance received praise from GOP allies for his comments in the Oval Office, his arrival in Vermont was met with protests and support.

Upon his arrival at Sugarbush Resort, Vance was greeted by a crowd of protesters lining the sidewalk. Some held signs criticizing Vance, with messages such as “Go ski in Russia traitor” and “Shame on you Vance.” Others displayed Ukrainian flags and signs expressing solidarity with Ukraine and Zelensky, including “Zelensky is a hero” and “I stand with Ukraine.”

Notably, the protests were not limited to the Ukraine issue, as some demonstrators also carried Palestinian flags and a “Free Palestine” banner. On the opposite side of the street, supporters of Vance waved Trump flags and American flags. A man held an “America First” sign, while a woman displayed a “Welcome Vance” sign.

Republican Vermont Governor Phil Scott, who had previously endorsed Nikki Haley in the 2024 GOP primary but ultimately voted for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, issued a statement urging Vermonters to show respect during Vance’s visit. Scott emphasized that Vance was in Vermont for a family trip with his young children and called for civility despite potential disagreements.

In conclusion, Vice President JD Vance’s visit to Vermont sparked a range of reactions, from protests to expressions of support. The diverse responses reflect the complex political landscape and differing opinions within the state and beyond.
