Protester interrupts Russian news broadcast with anti-war sign saying 'They're lying'

A protester interrupted a live Russian news broadcast, with a sign reading 'No war - Russians against war' and urging viewers not to believe the propaganda.

During the broadcast which aired on Russia's Channel One on Monday night, a journalist, identified as Marina Ovsyannikova, stormed the set behind the presenter while producers did their best to cut her off.

Ekaterina Andreeva was delivering her routine evening roundup on the top Russian state TV station before being interrupted by the colleague as producers tried to cut her out of the frame.

The woman is said to have breached the Ostankino Technical Center in Moscow, before trying to address millions of viewers watching across the country.

The sign was penned in Russian and English with the words: "Stop the war," and "Don't believe the propaganda, they are lying to you here."

It has now been revealed that the protester Marina Ovsyannikova - an employee at Channel One itself - is said to be irate at the media hive's reporting of the ongoing war.

Prior to her on air intrusion, Ovsyannikova recorded a video apologising for Channel One's reporting.

"This necklace around my neck signifies that Russia should immediately stop this fratricidal war and our brotherly nations can make peace with each other.

"Unfortunately, for the last several years I worked at Channel One, promoting Kremlin propaganda and for that I am very ashamed right now.

"I am ashamed that I allowed lies to be told from TV screens, that I allowed Russian people to be zombified. We stayed quiet when all of this was just getting started in 2014.

"We didn't come out to protest when the Kremlin poisoned Navalny. We continued to quietly watch this inhumane regime.

"Now the whole world turned away from us.

"Ten generations of our descendants won't be able to wash away the shame of this fratricidal war."

The Mirror reports the Kremlin comes down brutally on those who disagree with Putin's regime, shutting down all independent media sources across Russia.

As well as this, The Duma weeks ago voted in new laws making it prohibited to publish 'misinformation' regarding the 'special operation' of Ukraine, with those found to be in breach facing up to 15 years imprisonment.

Suggesting the invasion in itself is a 'war' also falls into this bracket.
