Sefton councillors joined union leaders and firefighters on the front lines of a protest against the spiralling cost of living crisis in Southport today.
Sean Halsall, Laura Lunn Bates and Jennifer Corcoran joined members of the Fire Brigade Union, the Public and Commercial Services Union, Unison and Unite outside Southport Fire Station to show their support for the 'Enough is Enough' campaign, which champions better wages and energy cost subsidies.
The rally delivered a petition to the offices of Southport MP Damien Moore, calling for pay increases, cuts to expensive energy bills, an end to food poverty, decent homes for all, and higher taxes for Britain's super-rich elites.

Cllr Lunn Bates said in a statement: "It’s important to take a stand against the current and recently proposed Tory anti-trade union laws. In the pandemic we clapped for our key service workers but now the same key workers are having to use food banks to feed their families.
"The cost of living crisis is hitting everyone hard and wages for many just don’t match up to rising food, heating and fuel prices. On Monday, the government will try to ram through its anti-strike law. An attack on the very frontline workers they once called 'heroes'. This is why we were out today to deliver a petition to Damien Moore to defend the right to strike and stand in solidarity with striking workers."
