Protesters took to Old Market Square in Nottingham city centre to mark three months since the invasion of Ukraine. The protest, organised by the Nottingham Ukraine Solidarity Campaign, was held by the left lion in the square at 6pm on Tuesday, May 24.
Speakers took to the microphone to share their views and offer their support to the country, denouncing Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his actions. Banners reading 'Solidarity with Ukraine and 'Russian Troops Out' were held up by some of the people who attended.
The group said it wanted to "bring together like minded opponents of the invasion and to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine and support for Ukrainian refugees in Nottingham". It was formed in the immediate aftermath of the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine and has been running events most weekends since, including a large 500 person march through Nottingham, a vigil for child victims of war and a die-in protest in April.
