The Arizona Cardinals would like to trade wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. They are reportedly seeking a Day 2 pick and more in exchange for the three-time All-Pro.
However, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell proposes a trade that is super intriguing and the Cardinals would get a first-round pick.
The deal is this:
- The Cardinals send Hopkins and pick No. 34 (Round 2) to the New York Giants.
- The Giants send pick No. 25 (Round 1) and pick No. 128 (Round 4)
The Giants get a big-time receiver. The Cardinals shed themselves of the contract.
They also pick up a fourth-round pick and move up nine spots in the draft, giving them two first-round picks.
At pick No. 25, they could be in position to select a receiver like TCU’s Quentin Johnston or be able to grab Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz.
If they were to also trade back from the third overall pick and pick up a second-round pick, they would still end up with three Day 2 picks in addition to their two picks in Round 1.
Have the Giants inquired about a trade? That’s the part we don’t know.
But this is a deal the Cardinals should definitely make if it is possible.
