Derry City boss Ruaidhri Higgins says he has 'nothing but good things' to say about Eoin Toal after the defender's move to Bolton Wanderers becomes a step closer.
The 23-year-old centre half has been a target Wanderers have turned their attentions to to bolster their options in the heart of defence. Ian Evatt's side have made three signings so far this summer
Toal has made more than 150 appearances for Derry and scored six goals. This season, he has turned out 20 times in the League of Ireland Premier Division and scored once.

The Whites had a bid turned down for the defender earlier this summe for a player they wanted to sign this summer. He would complement options on the right hand side of the defence.
The Manchester Evening News understands that Wanderers have been successful with a return bid for Toal and that he is poised to become Bolton's fourth transfer window signing this summer. It is understood he will have a medical with the League One side early this week.
Derry were in action last night in the League of Ireland Premier Division against Finn Harps, with Higgins' men securing a late 2-1 victory on the road. Toal however was not a member of the Candystripes matchday squad.
And talking after the game, Higgins confirmed that, though the move is not yet official, he admitted that Toal's move to Bolton 'looks close' after his absence against Finn Harps. The Candystripes boss has nothing but good things to say about his captain, who is poised to depart.
Speaking to the Derry Journal, Higgins said: "It's not official but obviously he's not here today. He's a proper man, a really good player and I've got nothing but good things to say about him.
"I think there's been reports over the last 24 hours that it's close and it looks close."
