Promotion odds for Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday & Derby County as fixtures revealed

Bolton Wanderers are setting their sights on challenging for promotion this season out of League One.

Wanderers finished last season in ninth place, a good achievement for a side newly promoted from League Two. For the 2022/23 campaign though, Ian Evatt's side are seeking to challenge in earnest for a place in the top six.

It will not be an easy task however as they are not the only side harbouring those same aspirations. The likes of Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth, Wycombe Wanderers, Oxford United, MK Dons and Plymouth Argyle were in the division last season and will no doubt have the same intention.

The three sides relegated from the Championship will also be seeking to return to the second tier as quickly as possible. Derby County, Peterborough United and Barnsley will have their eye on the top of the league.

Today, the League One fixtures have been announced and excitement is building for the new campaign which starts at the end of July. The bookies have had their say on how things stand in terms of promotion out of the division.

Wanderers are 4/1 to reach the Championship, having been given the same odds as fellow ex-Premier League side Portsmouth. Nearly half a dozen teams are above them in the standings.

Ipswich are the 7/4 favourites for promotion and are followed by Sheffield Wednesday(9/4) and Wayne Rooney’s Derby County (11/4) with Betfair following confirmation of the EFL fixtures were confirmed today. Barnsley and Peterborough are both on the same odds (7/2).
