Australia’s Promiseland Festival has responded to all the memes and critiques that clowned the event for separating the moshpit from General Admission and VIP ticket holders, stating that it has “listened to your feedback”.
Over the weekend, punters from across the country flocked to the Gold Coast to shake their bundah’s to a plethora of artists including Jorja Smith, Busta Rhymes, YG Marley, Rema and more.
However, punters who bought General Admission tickets weren’t too pleased with how the festival divided spaces between them and VIP ticket holders.
Throughout the weekend, festival-goers from both ends of the spectrum shared the wide gap between the VIP and GA moshpits.
Heck, there were even videos of people allegedly jumping from the GA section to get into the VIP pit because “those artists be looking like ants FR”, as one TikToker shared.
Some folks also took to the official Promiseland Festival TikTok to make their complaints about the division after they shared drone footage of the event.
“The GA barrier you might as well watch from your apartment in [Surfer’s Paradise],” one person wrote.
“Nah there’s a reason everyone was jumping that GA barrier,” another punter commented.
“That GA barrier is criminal,” wrote a third.
Promiseland Festival responds to GA & VIP moshpit complaints
Following the big weekend, Promiseland shared a statement on Instagram to address the complaints regarding their moshpit system.
“Moving forward, Promiseland will no longer have separate GA and VIP areas,” it began in its statement.
“We’ve listened to your feedback, and there will be no barriers separating festival-goers. Everyone will enjoy the same views across all stages.”
Although it plans to abolish the separate pits for future Promiseland events, organisers will continue to offer VIP tickets which will offer a variety of benefits including exclusive amenities and fast-track entry.
“We believe this will provide an enhanced experience for all festival goers and reinforce our vision for an inclusive and unified festival.”
Surprisingly, the post has been met with people asking for the VIP and GA to be separate. However, asked organisers to bring the barriers closer together so that there isn’t a ‘yuuuuge divide, causing artists to look like ants.
“Bring the barrier closer don’t get rid of it,” one person wrote.
“I love Promiseland but I do think we should still have GA and VIP sections. Just bring the barrier closer a bit… not too much tho,” another punter commented.
What are the price differences between VIP and General Admission at Promiseland Festival?
Going right off the three-day passes, General Admission tickets would set punters back $415. For VIP tickets — which included a variety of benefits such as a closer moshpit and fast-tracked entry — it cost $615, and for VVIP Terrace Passes, it cost $1999.
Festival-goers also had the option of one-day tickets where GA cost $179, VIP cost $279 and VVIP Terrace Pass were $749.
So, there is quite a ‘yuge gap between GA and VIP tickets when it comes to the moolah.
So far, punters are calling for barriers to still be in place to separate VIP and GA. But I guess we’ll just have to wait until Promiseland Festival 2025 to see if this decision works out in the organisers’ favour.
