Authorities in Florida arrested a Democratic Party official and prominent LGBTQ activist this month on child pornography charges. Matthew Inman, 39, who served as treasurer for the Orange County Democratic Party and president of Rainbow Democrats, was charged with the transportation of child sexual abuse material by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the middle district of Florida.

Inman allegedly shared videos depicting adults sexually abusing young children with an undercover officer. The arrest stemmed from an incident in October 2024 when Inman traveled to Las Vegas and engaged in online conversations with an undercover officer posing as the father of a 9-year-old boy. During these conversations, Inman expressed interest in meeting and sexually assaulting the purported child, and also shared child sexual abuse material videos.

Following the arrest, Rainbow Democrats issued a statement expressing shock and offering condolences to any victims of child sexual abuse. They suspended Inman from the Caucus and announced his official removal at the next general meeting. The organization emphasized its commitment to continuing service to the community despite the incident.

Orange County Democrats also released a statement condemning child sexual abuse and swiftly suspending Inman from all voluntary roles and responsibilities. The party elected a new treasurer in light of the charges against Inman.

Inman attempted to delete videos from his phone and hide from authorities in the attic of his home when the FBI executed a search warrant. He was subsequently booked by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 16 and is currently in custody at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
