Industrial and logistics developer Prologis has announced plans to expand its park in north Birmingham with a new speculative scheme.
The project at Prologis Park Midpoint in Minworth, along with two others in the South East, will bring the total amount of land under development by US group's UK arm to 2.4 million sq ft.
The new unit at Midpoint, called 'DC6', will create a 163,754 sq ft distribution centre and bring the total floorspace of logistics properties at the site to more than 1.6 million sq ft.
The development will be certified net zero carbon in construction and will have electric vehicle infrastructure for the benefit of customers with green fleets.
Prologis said that, as demand within the e-commerce sector continued to grow, there had been an increased focus on the need for more high-density urban hubs to provide greater last-mile capabilities.
