A prolific thief who 'caused misery' to shop owners has been ordered to stay away from a town centre.
Nicola Gregory appeared before a court last month after she was caught stealing meat and alcohol from a supermarket on Mill Street in Macclesfield. The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to theft on December 14.
She was handed an eight-week sentence suspended for 12 months at Chester Magistrates’ Court. She will have to wear an electronic tag and was also handed a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), Cheshire Police said.

This bans her from going into Macclesfield town centre, unless for any pre-arranged appointments with the job centre, probation, a GP or to get to Macclesfield train station. Gregory, of Timber Street, could be sent straight to prison if she breaks the order.
Sergeant Matt Bassirat said: "Gregory is a prolific offender who causes misery to local shop owners in the town. This is a great result that shows, as well as bringing a case to court, we are using all options available to us in order to secure the CBO.
"Gregory will be under the CBO until 13 December 2024 and if she fails to comply with any of the conditions could see a penalty of five years imprisonment."
