Professional cleaner shares top 'do's and don'ts' for a perfectly clean home

A professional cleaner on social media has revealed her top 'do's and don'ts' for when it comes to having a clean home.

Cleaning habits can often differ from person to person, and there's really no right or wrong way to do things. However, some tricks definitely work better than others, and certain methods are more effective and time-saving.

If the thought of cleaning sends your head spinning and you don't know where to begin, there are plenty of tips and hacks available on TikTok - and one woman has shared some advice that might be useful even for the most experienced of cleaners.

Content creator Anastasia, also known as @anadovada on the video-sharing app, is a professional cleaner who often shares tips and tricks on cleaning and organising with her 43,000 followers.

One of her most recent clips, which has amassed over 317,000 views, details four things that you should never do when cleaning as well as offering four helpful alternatives.

Captions across the screen read: "Here's four do's and don'ts' from a professional cleaner."

Her first tip is to never work from 'bottom to top' while you're cleaning. Instead, you should work from top to bottom, so you're not spreading any dirt over areas you've already worked on and ruining your progress.

The next tip is not to dust any of your surfaces with a dry cloth. Using a damp cloth instead will make it easier for any dirt or dust to be picked up and disposed of.

The third tip on the video was about how you should deal with spillages on the floor. Anastasia says you should always mop these up in one motion with a cloth and never spread it around, which will only make it harder to clean.

Finally, when it comes to buffing shiny surfaces rather than dusting, the cloth tip from earlier in the video is reversed and a damp one is best as it works better for polishing and will leave a sparkling finish.

People flocked to the comments to thank Anastasia for sharing her advice, with some offering up their own tips from experience.

One person said: "Very helpful tips! I totally agree!"

Another said: "Thankyou!" alongside some clapping emojis.

And a third suggested: "Dry dust damp areas like toilets. Then use paper towels then another dry cloth to buff chrome."
