Reports were rife that Shah Rukh Khan’s fee for his upcoming film ‘Pathaan’ is less than half of Akshay Kumar’s rumoured fee for his film ‘Cuttputlli’. Producer Jackky Bhagnani recently addressed the rumours.
In an interview with a news portal, Jackky said that whoever calculates and reports actors’ fee this way is doing a misinformed calculation to begin with. The producer revealed that every top actor in the industry now has a stake in the films’ profit.
Elaborating further, Jackky added that their overall fee is a function of that stake and how much the film earns at the box office. This is the way it works, whether for SRK or Akshay Kumar or Salman Khan or most leading stars. According to him, to compare one actor’s base fee with another actor’s overall profit earning is like comparing apples with oranges.
While Bhagnani doesn’t go into detail about Kumar’s fee structure, he says his long running association with the actor is a sign of his fair pay demands.
Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathaan’, which stars Shah Rukh, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles, will hit the theatres on January 25, 2023. Apart from this, SRK also has ‘Dunki’ and ‘Jawan’ in his pipeline.
Akshay, on the other hand, has films like, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, ‘Selfiee’, ‘OMG 2’ and others.
