Probe opened after Scottish teenager hospitalised in car accident

POLICE Scotland is continuing its investigation after a 15-year-old boy was struck by a car on the first day of the year and admitted to hospital.

Police Scotland is continuing its enquiries after a teenager was found seriously injured in Barrhead having been struck by a car. The police received a report on January 1, around 10.55pm about a 15-year-old boy on an electric bike having been found injured in Aurs Drive, Barrhead.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

It was established that the teenager was struck by a car which failed to stop. The car is believed to be a silver Vauxhall Astra and enquiries are ongoing to trace it. Sergeant Ally Wright said: “We have now confirmed that a car was involved in this incident and our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances. “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have seen the incident, the car or have information which could assist us to get in touch. “I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage or private CCTV to contact us.” Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 4085 of January 1, 2025.
