Probe after 'deliberate fire' set at Scottish sheriff court

A FIRE was deliberately set at a sheriff court in the early hours of the morning in Fife.

Emergency services were called to a report of a door on fire at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Whytescauseway, at around 4.50am on Thursday.

It has been reported that the blaze has been extinguished, however, a police cordon is still in place on the street.

Police said they are treating the incident as wilful, and an investigation is still ongoing.

They added that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.50am on Thursday, February 6, 2025, police were made aware of a door on fire at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Whytescauseway, Kirkcaldy.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
