Pro-Palestine climate activists stage sit-in at Liverpool Street Station to demand ceasefire

Climate activists staged a pro-Palestine sit-in at Liverpool Street Station on Thursday afternoon.

Around a hundred activists were filmed sitting and lying on the floor of the station’s main concourse, repeatedly chanting “ceasefire now”.

Onlookers were seen standing and watching the protest, which was described by police as “peaceful”.

Officers were seen standing by, but did not intervene as the protest “did not affect the operation of the station”.

One eyewitness said on X, formerly Twitter, the demonstration was “very powerful”. Another X user described it as “wonderful solidarity”.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “On Thursday, February 29, there was a peaceful protest at Liverpool Street station.

“About 100 people gathered from 2.30pm until 2.45pm and did not affect the operation of the station,” they said.

“British Transport Police were in attendance to minimise disruption to passengers. There were no arrests.”
