Pro-Palestine activists vandalise Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf course over Gaza remarks

Donald Trump's famous Turnberry golf course in Scotland has been sabotaged by pro-Palestine protesters, who daubed red paint across buildings at the exclusive resort.

The group Palestine Action has claimed responsibility for the damage, which targeted the clubhouse and several greens at the prestigious course.

Images published by The Sun show swear words and insults spray-painted on the premises, with the phrase "Gaza is not for sale" prominently painted across the lawn. Protesters also dug holes into several of the course’s greens.

Trump purchased the site, commonly known as Trump Turnberry, in 2014. It is one of the world's most exclusive golf destinations, charging around £1,000 per round.

The vandalism occurred amid controversy over Trump's recent suggestion to transform Gaza into a "Middle East Riviera" under US control, envisioning locals living prosperous, carefree lives alongside wealthy tourists.

Trump had even shared AI-generated images depicting Gaza—where approximately 48,000 people are reported to have died in bombings over the past 17 months—as a glamorous holiday resort.

His controversial plan involves relocating two million Palestinians in Gaza to neighbouring Arab nations such as Egypt and Jordan while construction firms clear the bombed-out buildings.

"We'll own it," Trump said, promising the US would take responsibility for "dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site."

However, Trump clarified the US would not invest money or deploy troops in the ongoing conflict.

Gaza has experienced widespread destruction following intense Israeli bombardments, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised retaliation for Hamas's atrocities in the October 7 terror attack.

Trump has a longstanding interest in Middle East affairs and previously spoke of plans to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during his presidency.
