Protesters from Palestine Action smashed windows and splattered red paint across the BBC’s headquarters on Portland Place on Monday.

It comes in protest against the BBC’s coverage of the Israel-Hamas conflict, with activists accusing the broadcaster of having an “entrenched pro-Israel bias”.

It marks the second time the building has been targeted over its coverage of the conflict.

Presenter Victoria Derbyshire posted images and footage of the scene in the capital in October 2023.

A spokesperson for Palestine Action said: “This isn’t just about the news – it’s about the role of the media in shaping global complicity.

“The BBC has blood on its hands, and today’s action is part of a wider campaign to hold them accountable. We will not stand by as the BBC sanitises genocide.”

Activists claim the protest is driven by “years of outrage” over the BBC’s refusal to cover the Palestinian struggle “with the same urgency and accuracy it affords Israeli military action”.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: "Police were called at around 02.50hrs on Monday, 17 February to reports of criminal damage to a building in Portland Place W1.

"Red paint had been sprayed on the wall of the building and glass doors smashed.

"No arrest has been made and enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 617/17Feb."

The BBC has been approached for comment.
