Pro-independence media channel to run special Scotland Euros broadcasts

A PRO-INDEPENDENCE broadcast outfit is set to host special Euros shows for every one of Scotland’s group games.

Independent Live’s sports show The Locker Room will broadcast live previews and reviews of Scotland’s European Championship matches.

Volunteer presenters Michael McEwan, Graeme Duthie, Dave Smith, and Reegan Stevenson will debrief Scotland’s group performance at 10pm on match days.

The Scottish men’s team will play the opening Euros match against Germany on June 14.

They will then play Switzerland and Hungary on June and 23 respectively.

The Locker Room host McEwan commented that, free from the constraints of larger broadcast networks like STV and BBC, his show does not shy away from lively and often controversial discussions.

He said: “We are a free, independent kind of media.

“We say what we want and get to the point and don’t hide behind any punches or whatever.

“It’s not like other kinds of media platforms where they’ve got to watch what they’re saying and all that.”

Independence Live is a grassroots Scottish broadcasting platform, established amid the 2014 Scottish referendum. Ten years in, its website now showcases thousands of online shows, podcasts and livestreams.

The Locker Room airs on webinar software StreamYard, so viewers can engage in playful online banter with the presenters and other viewers.

Scotland crashed out in the group stages of the previous Euros competition, held in Italy in 2021. This year, they hope to build on their momentum during qualifiers to progress further in Germany.

“This year’s Euros are also going to be special because last time we were just coming out of lockdown,” said McEwan.

“People were still wearing masks and all that going into the game, and it wasn’t full houses."

You can tune in to The Locker Room’s livestreams on the Independence Live website at 10pm on June 14, 19, and 23.
