Pro Bowl LG Jonah Jackson back at Lions practice

There was a welcome presence on the practice field in Allen Park on Wednesday. Left guard Jonah Jackson was a limited participant in practice for the first time since injuring his finger in practice prior to Week 2.

Jackson suffered a serious finger injury in practice, getting his right ring finger caught in the pads of a teammate. It severely injured both the ligament and the bone itself, and Jackson has sat out since.

While Dan Skipper has done an admirable job in Jackson’s place, the possible return of one of Detroit’s few Pro Bowlers from 2021 is exciting. Quarterback Jared Goff certainly thinks so.

“Yeah, he’s a great player, man,” Goff said after Wednesday’s practice. “He’s a great player and a guy that we rely on up there, so if we do get him back, it’d be big. We’ll see if it’s this week or after the bye, but hopefully he can get back.”

As Goff noted, it’s still unsure when Jackson will return. Head coach Dan Campbell terms Jackson “day-to-day” prior to practice, but it’s still encouraging that Jackson is able to get out on even a limited basis.
