Priyanka Chopra has opened up about how she knew that husband Nick Jonas was the one for her after having to “kiss a lot of frogs” in the meantime.

The actress, 42, has been married to the Jonas Brothers singer, 32, since December 2018 and they welcomed three-year-old daughter Malti via surrogate in 2022.

Appearing on the cover of the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, she told how she knew the Jealous hit-maker was definitely marriage material.

“I wouldn’t have married [Nick] if he didn’t tick all the right boxes,” she told the publication. “You have to look for someone who respects you. Respect is different from love and affection… You’ve got to kiss a lot of frogs until you find your prince.”

They had two ceremonies for their nuptials - one honouring her Hindu roots, the second a Christian ceremony that was officiated by Jonas’ father, Paul Kevin Jonas.

During the second, Chopra wore a stunning white wedding dress complete with a 75-foot veil that was designed by Ralph Lauren.

The bride may have looked ethereal, but she admitted that her record-setting headwear threatened to ruin her big day when it got “stuck”, resulting in “six people” needing to step into help.

She explained: “His [Ralph Lauren] idea was to have a 100-foot veil. I said 50, and we compromised with 75. The veil was stitched on to my head and I had to look graceful while tugging [it]. I got stuck at one point and six people from the atelier had to come and unstick it... But when I walked out, it was perfect. My neck muscles were on my side.”

Chopra Jonas has recently been filming the highly anticipated second season of Citadel in London, which is expected to be released later this year.

She portrays spy Nadia Sinh in the Amazon Prime Video spy thriller series, which also stars Richard Madden and Stanley Tucci.

Season one of Citadel debuted in April 2023 and was one of the most expensive television series ever made with each of its six episodes reportedly costing $50m.

It was renewed for a second season in March, the month before it debuted.

During the first season, Chopra’s character and her partner Mason (played by Madden), who work for spy agency Citadel, discover a dangerous new organisation, Manticore, and have their memories wiped with the pair living as strangers.

Eight years later, Tucci’s Bernard desperately needs Citadel’s top operatives but first must try to convince them of their past lives of which they have no memory.

It proved a hit with viewers and The Standard declared that “resistance is futile” in its 4-star review.
