A private CCTV camera was installed on a Council flat after the complex was "indiscriminately" shot at.
The shooting occurred at the Mercer Street Flats just around the corner from St Stephen's Green in April of this year. Thankfully, there were no injuries associated with the shots - but a source said it left residents "traumatised" and children "screaming their heads off".
Dublin City Council confirmed the camera does not belong to them and added that they have been in touch with a tenant about its removal. They said: "Upon inspection one camera was found outside one flat in Mercer House. We have engaged with the tenant to find a solution to removing the camera."

Independent Councillor Mannix Flynn was critical of DCC's response to the shooting incident and said the residents are "whistling Dixie" if they expect supports from the Local Authority.
"If you park your car illegally in the flats you will know all about it quick enough but if you are getting fired at with live ammunition, you can go whistling Dixie...We have heard very little about it from Dublin City Council or indeed An Garda Siochana, which have an ongoing operation on that.
"The point of the matter is that what happens in a situation like this is that the general public and many of the residents in the area and indeed the children are left in the dark. They are in there walking on mines because they don't know what is going to happen.
"It simply isn't good enough from any point of view and particularly from Dublin City Council's estate management point of view. They have still to make a statement on; A that they were informed by the gardai that this had happened and B what kind of protocols they are rolling out."
There were no arrests made in relation to the shooting, a garda spokesman told Dublin Live at the time of the shooting.
He said: "Gardai are investigating an incident where a firearm was discharged on Mercer Street, Dublin 2 on April 8, 2022. No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made. He added that "investigations are ongoing".
