Prisoners who escaped by cutting through ceiling still on the run after four days

Three prison inmates who cut through the ceiling to escape remain on the run after four days.

Lance Justin Stephens, 29, Matthew Allen Crawford, 29, and Christopher Allen Blevins, 37, broke out of jail in Barry County, Missouri on Friday morning after climbing through a hole in the roof and escaping through a maintenance door.

Officials have not revealed how long the trio, who are all considered to be armed and dangerous, were missing for before their absence was discovered.

Barry County Sheriff's Office detective Doug Henry told CNN that the escape had been enabled because the building was old and had ceilings made of plaster.

Authorities also believe that the escapees have fled the area and are no longer together.

"One was seen in Arkansas, one in Springfield," Henry said.

According to the sheriff's office website, Stephens is facing charges including possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon, Crawford is facing theft charges and Blevins is facing charges including the unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting a lawful stop.

The sheriff's office said on Facebook : "If you have any information on where the suspects are or where they are heading, we welcome your tips and they will be passed on to the Marshals."

Police have warned that the suspects should not be approached under any circumstances.

Just last month a prisoner sentenced for two killings escaped from HMP Kirkham in Lancashire before being arrested in Bolton.

Darren Pilkington was jailed in 2006 for murdering his then girlfriend Carly Fairhurst.

He had also been locked up five years previously at the age of 15 for beating to death Paul Akister outside a pub, reports LancsLive.

Over the past decade he had been released four times but recalled on each occasion after breaking rules and going on drink and drug binges.
