A prisoner who injured a fellow inmate who tried to attack him has been jailed for 12 months.
Paul Menzies, 38, disarmed Steven Wilkinson at HMP Low Moss in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, on February 23.
Wilkinson - who is serving six years for firearms offences - tried to strike Menzies with a sock containing a valve.
But, Menzies took possession of it and struck Wilkinson to the body causing a bleeding injury to his arm.

Menzies pled guilty under provocation yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Wilkinson.
The court heard the pair were in the recreational wing of the prison.
CCTV shown to the court displayed Wilkinson running from one end of the wing to the other while clutching the weapon.
Prosecutor Lauren Donnelly said: "He was in possession of a sock containing a radiator valve.
"He swung the sock in the direction of Menzies who anticipated it and quickly moved out the way.
"Menzies got the sock from Wilkinson and repeatedly swung it in his direction.
"He then struck him on the body with it."
The pair were separated by prison officers and Wilkinson was taken to hospital for treatment to his left left arm which required three stitches.
The court was told Menzies was punished by being put into isolation and lost his TV access while Wilkinson received no punishment.
Sheriff John McCormick said: "I accept that this was a plea tendered under provocation and the injury was not severe."
